From the word go there was something about this night that was different from any other Friday Breaks night at Brown Alley.. Well first it was a Saturday!! And second, it was hosted by the new Crew in town BuGHAUZ.

Entering upstairs instantly brought on a smile as the décor (by El Division) was a rockin’, with a red sun set atop a black background, and áuthentic (plastic) swords, it was sure to be a ‘cutting edge’ night (sorry that was a bit lame)..

First set went to Nick Division and A-Jam playing a mash up of Funky to driving breaks, all until there was abit of sound trouble. But luckily, within not even half an hour (and only the booth speakers dropping out) the problem was fixed with haste, and most of the already dancing floor was unaware.

Next up was the BuGHAUZ resident live act Roxy Moron playing through a live PA. Roxy played his blend of twisted almost minimal, yet still driving (if that makes any sense) electro, he had the hips shaking and the masses movin, then to make it all better A-jam, and MC/DJ Nick Division jumped on the deckf for an acapella, breaks live mash up. With a high point being the acapella of No good for me playing over Roxy Morons live set, with Break beat cuts, and scratches..

Next up was the main event, the dance floor had been crankin form 12pm and Precision Cuts was certainly not going to give anyone a break.. Starting off with some funky breaks, Jem (from Precision cuts) quickly showed the crowd exactly why they are the UKs biggest kept breaks secret. Using CDJs Jem showed off his mastery of the decks and effects, and a killer track selection, playing a lot of original stuff and Precision cuts remixes such as Future sound of London, No Love and Curve Ball.. Put Precision cuts behind the decks, and throw in two dancers, and MC Nick Division, and the crowd that was already alive got shock treatment, as Nick spat out da rhymes to Precision cuts, picking the already killer set up just that little bit more…

It was then Lil Miss Breaks who took over the wheels of Steel, again showing Melbourne why she is the female face of Break Beat. Playing her blend of funky breaks, she then went on a different path than usual, and got into the darker more driving side of Breaks, and then cheekly dropped into some Drum and Bass, keeping all those on the dance floor for Precision cuts entertained and movin.

Finally to close the night Citizen.com got up, and from the word go played a cheeky set of white labels, and booty. With one of his early songs – a funkin classy remix of House of Pain – Jump around, Citizen did exactly that, had the crowd jumpin! Towards the end of his set, (that went over his allocated 1hr by an extra hour) Roxy Moron brought back out his Pa, and Nick Division joined Citizen on the decks for a three way jam.

All in all it was another great night by BuGHAUZ showing Melbourne that they mean buisness, and are here to stay.
