With the anticipation of the next Transmission party building up to scorching levels, there was only one thing to do to ride out the craving. A truly worthy dosage of trance and uplifting beats were belted out within the walls of the Gaelic Club on Easter Sunday, and that’s exactly what 600 people injected into their ears at this sell out event.

I entered the swarming domain of energy and immediately felt the heatwave. People were crowded around fans, dancing and satisfied with the two German DJ/producers Kyau & Albert who had kicked off at 11pm. The atmosphere was exploding with the power of sound, and the trance citizens were literally bouncing off the walls. The crowd was alive and appreciative as they spun some of their own tracks: Walk Down, Are You Fine and Kiksu. They also dropped the likes Dogzilla’s Without You, Armin Van Buuren’s The World is Watching Me and an interesting remix of the Prodigy’s Smack my Bitch Up.

Both of them were entirely in tune with the crowd and knew how to work a room better than most DJs, but more importantly they looked like they were was nothing they would rather be doing. They finished up their set just after 1am with a very appreciative audience bidding them farewell, making way for Isaac to begin his set.

Isaac unfortunately didn’t play for very long, but while he was there he delivered a fast, dark and dirty set that the crowd adored. He departed the stage to make way for Derb, who certainly didn’t disappoint the masses. He dropped the classic Second Trip and pumped out Follow Me, which delighted the punters. The audience was full of life and complimented the performers by showing their utmost gratitude towards the quality music that was being pumped out.

I left soon after due to the sweaty nature of the Gaelic Club. The warmup for Transmission was definitely a heated event, and with the quality of the DJs supplied the sound system didn’t really do them any justice – the only fault in an otherwise perfect night! A huge arena would have added to the fantastic atmosphere already created by their talent. All in all, the best ‘aural pleasure’ I’ve ever experienced on an Easter Sunday.
