Its great to see hard work rewarded, and no one works harder than the girls from Tickled Pink. The girls are, Danni B, Miss Chris, Sass and their most recent addition, Elektra. Nights in Melbourne come and go and for Tickled Pink to be up to their 16th outing is no mean feat!

One of the best things about Tickled Pink is their support for other up and coming DJs. This month it was Nuggets turn to play the ‘The Fresh Set’. Nugget played housey and very funky playing exactly what the crowd wanted. It was the busiest I had seen a dance floor, let alone a nightclub, so early and for good reason because Nugget was really good. She also played a remix of Justin Timberlake – Sexy Back and finished with Claude Von Stoke – The Whistler.

Another feature of tonight was the vs. sets to be played by the resident girls and 4 of their previous ‘Flavours of the Months’. If you don’t know what that is, each event they have a male flavour of the month guest DJ. Tonight we were to have 4, each playing a versus set with the Tickled Pink girls.

First up were Miss Chris and Jeremy K. I really enjoyed this set. Miss Chris played some tough electro with quite a few tracks with vocals, incl Global Deejays – Get Up. Each of them played about two tracks a piece then handed the headphones over. You can really see the experience of Jeremy K shine through when he DJs. He played somewhat tougher and more progressive than Miss Chris and they offset each other well. He played a great remix of Christina Aguilera track.

What I really enjoyed about Miss Chris’ set was that she played lots of remix’s of recognisable tracks, such as ‘Last Night A DJ Saved My Life’ this keeps everyone interested and I don’t think is done enough. Another track she played was Plastic – Plastic.

I was really enjoying the last track of their set that was played by Jeremy and then I was told that it was his new one! You best keep your ears out for it.

Up next were Elektra and Luke McD. They keep up the pace set by Miss Chris and Jeremy K but changed the sound. They played more techno / minimal / german house. The first track I believe was Marc Houle – Bay Of Figs. What I like about this set was that they both kept it fun, something that has been missing of djs recently that have played this sort of music.

Before I knew it, Danni B and Keltec were up behind on the decks and it just seemed to pick up at this point. I am a big fan of Danni and she didn’t let me down this night. I really like her funky but tough sound and Keltec played along the same lines but more breaky. It was different and that’s why I think I enjoyed it.

It was good to see the club so well packed and it just seemed to get busier as the night got later. I didn’t hang around for the last set which was to be Sass vs. Steve May, but I had had more than enough fun for one night and decided to leave.

Its no wonder that Tickled Pink is going strong and getting stronger, great music, great crowd and fresh ideas really set it apart. It just goes to show that if you work hard enough, you will get your rewards.

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
