Kinder Spiel is the brainwave of two party people know as Langdon Cook and Piero. Wanting to hear some underground tunes and party with as many friends as possible, they took their influences from Berlin and Ibiza and brought it right to our door. This week’s soirée was at the Burdekin Bar in Oxford Street and to top it off was only $5.

Established in 2005, the boys have come a long way. Arriving just after midnight on Friday night a modest, happy crowd were starting to shake their tail feathers to some really groovy tunes. I hadn’t heard this type of techno music since I was in Berlin myself and it made the memories come flooding back to my brain. Grabbing a drink I was keen to find out more. Chatting to a Kinder Spiel regular I discovered they have had the like of Ben Korbel, Motec and Glitch don the decks at these parties (that’s what they like to call them by the way – one big party!)

Jamie Lloyd, of Trouble Within fame, was up next and the crowd was enthralled. I was too busy chatting to a bunch of party people in the corner to bust any moves tonight but it sounded great and in hindsight I was gutted I didn’t have much of a dance. Needless to say that was my fault – note to self – ALWAYS wear dancing shoes on a Friday night in the city!

Kinder Spiel (translates to “Baby Speak” – and I am sure we have ALL been guilty of that during a night out!) is a really fun event and I will be sure to put on my party pants a dance the night away at their next installment. The boys really do throw a great party so keep your eyes peeled for the next one – it really is a lot of fun.
