Once again the melting pot of Canberra’s local talent was ready to boil on Friday night with Exposed at the Transit bar back to fulfill one’s appetite for chunky electro and all round shenanigans. Adding to the recipe for this Friday’s main course were Sydney boys The Heat, bringing with a swag a big remixes and party tunes.

The entrée for the night proceedings was Stacky throwing down some funky down tempo beats. Her funk ventured into the likes of Booty Lickin by Phono, Can’t Stop the Crew (Jesse Rose Main Dub) by 2020 Soundsystem and of course the crowd favourite Harder Faster Stronger (Deadmau5 Mix) by Daft Punk. Stacky’s ability to have a ball whilst spinning her tracks certainly infectious and is mirrored by those enjoying her tunes.

With the floor now well and truly warm it was time for the talented duo of Kiss Off Electric to provide the second course. The last few times I have seen these lads they have produced banging live sets and tonight was no exception. While not a live set on this occasion, the boys managed not to disappoint showing some silky smooth mixing and great track selection showcasing Vandalism’s massive remix of 3rd Face’s Canto Della Liberta_, Basement Beats’s Bart B More and Stardust’s classic Music Sounds Better (Charlie Fanclub Remix)_. Word on the street is that these lads are about to make this twosome a threesome (a three piece band that is), and I know from experience that threesomes are great! Well, actually not from experience but I’m told they’re fantastic so I’ll be looking forward to the next step for these guys.

Next on tonight’s menu was the main course: The Heat. Known best for their crazy rooftop parties in Sydney, I was personally looking forward to what The Heat had to offer. Maybe it was due to an over-hyping of their ability to party, but The Heat didn’t really deliver a knockout punch. While some of their own production work such as their remix of Sneaky Sound System’s Goodbye and their own The Celebration was much appreciated by the punters on the floor, they had a lack of enthusiam that evening, especially given that enthusiasm seems to be part and parcel of what The Heat is all about. Nevertheless, the music that graced our ears was of the finest order and didn’t take away from the nights proceedings.

The evening’s fourth course was provided by Cub, more local fresh produce served with a side of electro. Cub managed to pick things up a notch getting our feet moving and arms waving while still leaving the punters still hungry. The Boyz Noise remix of Marylin Manson’s Putting Holes in Happiness rocked and was well received by everyone on their feet, paving the way for the night’s final dish.

The final offering was Canberra’s latest rising star, Beat It. With his eclectic mix of raw and banging electro and new school jackin’ house, Beat It is becoming somewhat of a crowd favourite at Transit Bar. Holding onto the last of the Exposed faithful, the crowd was kept bouncing to the likes of monster tracks like Bass Kleph’s mix of Robb G’s 12 Inch Therapy, Riot in Belgium’s second mix of Radio Fireworks by Sukin and the club bomb Cheap Thrills by Herve featuring the ever popular Thriller sample by Michael Jackson.

But of course there is only so much crackin’ music one can stuff their face with, and all good things must come to an end. Exposed at Transit seemed to cement itself as one of Canberra’s premier parties, especially considering they were competing with some pretty heavy interstate and international acts that were in town. Personally, I’m already hungry for the next one.

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
