A rainy Sunday night in Surfers Paradise has me heading to the Something on Sundays afterparty at Ruby Tramp in Orchid Avenue. Fab a legend in clubland on the Gold Coast greets me at the door: he’s been around since Kokoz was opened in Broadbeach and has been at The Drink since it opened. Ruby Tramp, its sister club next door, has a luscious layout and as soon as you pass the reception the first thing you will find is a decadent day bed, that tonight is occupied by four gorgeous women grooving to the tunes.

In between visits to the bar, on the decks are the Stafford Brothers who have the faithful very pleased they have come. The floor is packed and the vibe is good which you can expect from a Stafford Brothers performance. My love of the Staffords goes back a long way to when I watched them develop their skills at Discoon Orchid and now they are a household name, not only on the Gold Coast but are fast becoming internationally recognized. Matt Stafford says a visit to the UK could be on the cards in the very near future.

I have a chat to Hutch, who is the manager of Ruby Tramp, to find out what is coming up for the future Something on Sundays afterparties, which are due to go into the new year. To my surprise another old Berlin personality is due to play over the upcoming weeks. Nadi aka Don Nadi is on the cards to control the decks in the coming Sundays so that will definitely bring some old faces to Ruby Tramp for a dose of Don’s legendry sets. Don was the king at the old Berlin with his patent House of Handbag among other nights. Don is very unsung DJ, and has a vast array of accomplishments under his belt in the music industry. Otherwise, the upcoming DJ line up for the Something on Sundays afterparties at Ruby Tramp will include Nadi, Raye Antonelli, TV Rock, Krtwheel, John Glover, Bang Gang, Moguai, Tom Neville, Whiskey Tears, Dirty Funkin Beats and Juvenile DJs.

The Stafford Brothers have some choice cuts in their crate tonight and have really awed the crowd again with a sterling set. After three hours I of a class night of music it is time for me to head home with smile. Sexy is Ruby Tramp summed up in one word, with house and glamour the staples of the venue.
