Sunday night Axwell was due to play at The Bedroom but Sunday daytime was nothing but rain in Surfers Paradise. The hype over Axwell had been building for weeks and the usual suspects left it to the last minute to get their tickets. Being ranked as one of the international DJ favourites in the inthemix50 DJ Poll, Axwell’s reputation precedes him but personally, this punter had previously not caught one of his sets before.

Descending into The Bedroom just before midnight, the first thing that hit me was the crowd ratio of about 80% gals and 20% boys, with the women all dressed to the nines. As usual everyone was asking over and over when Axwell would start starting, to the extent that it reminded me of that little “will you take us to mount splashmore?” incident on The Simpson’s. Axwell hits the decks and The Bedroom’s crowd went atomic! One of the assets of The Bedroom is you can get up close and personal to the DJ console, unlike most other clubs. As you will see in the photos, punters can actually watch their favourite DJ working his magic on the mixer and decks. This adds the value of your experience as taking photos are not a problem so long as you don’t flash the DJ in the face too much.

I was lucky enough to get ushered into the console with Axwell for a few photos while he was doing his thing.
And he certainly proved to be well and truly worthy of his popularity, and and he mesmerised the crowd with a smooth fusion of beats, taking punters into the early hours of Monday morning. Lush beats prevailed and there was not an inch of space on the dance floor free. Joey Mojo and Gerry Morales did a fine job as support Djs for the Axwell gig and can add working with another headliner to their resumes.

I would like to thank Axwell for rocking the crowd to such a massive extent and for pumping out so many quality tunes, and I hope all the ITM punters out there will get a chance to catch him on his national tour.
