Dirty Laundry hit The Bedroom again, and sent the crowd over the edge with a crankin’ live set. This was my second dose of the Laundry, and they just keep getting better! The energy of their live set transfers directly to punters on the floor, and it’s a big come down when they leave the stage and decks. The prelude to DL starting their set was a continuation by The Bedroom residents’ recent form of adding a few classics newly remixed. A new remixed version of Tell Me Why by Bronski Beat was on when I arrived at the club, but that track is not a favourite of mine at all. But it was countered next by a new 2008 mix of Everything Starts With an E by E-zee E Possee.
Boom and DL hit the stage and the decks and every punter, that was there to get their fix of Laundry was watering at the mouth. In my opinion they should be touring the world, infecting crowds globally with their infectious performance. And their army of fans was in force with their Dirty Laundry t-shirts once again, which have become a must have item for devotees. Normally live acts sound better on CD or vinyl, but Dirty Laundry are twenty times better live that prerecorded. I kind of wish they could do a four hour set, but that’s just being greedy , though if you’d caught them yourself then you would concur.
Dirty Laundry are a cool crew, and happily interact with the crowd both off and on stage. A true positive live experience catching them at The Bedroom on a Sunday is either the best way to wrap the week up, or the best way to start the new one. Either way, I think this year we’ll be seeing them do some TV appearances similar to those of Sneaky Sound System last year.
The Bedroom’s resident DJs Gerry Morales and Joey Mojo opened and closed as ususal and got punters warmed up and cooled down on the night.
