Okay, so you’ve no doubt read the blurb and have gotten the general idea that Libertine Magazine put on a killer launch party. But elaboration is of course what this space is for. So while a lazy writer may think a sentence or two may suffice, it’s probably a good thing to know a little more.

Libertine is in its waking hours as a publication and its killer format and classy production will no doubt make for a healthy future. On the night of their launch party at Ultra Suite, ‘health’ was hardly a consideration – no wet blanket vibes allowed. Booze flowed freely (literally) courtesy of Nick from Bar Soma and the battle-ready bar staff in the flanks, whilst enough cheeseburgers to feed China’s army ensured empty stomachs caused no havoc. Cheeseburgers? Yes, offbeat; but that’s the name of Libertines game.

Speaking of game, attendees to the party had plenty. The pretty young things were out in force, making for healthy company in the sparse environs of the always chic Ultra Suite. Entertainment was well catered also. A tilt at southern state-esque trends was made with the booking of live graffiti artists, which received a reaction good enough to warrant thinking that this may be a favourable aspect of future parties in Brisbane. DJs were of course going to be part of the staple diet also.

ITM50-listed DJ Danny T took to duties in the earlier hours, providing the hip hop sonic wallpaper to schmooze to. He set the cruise mode the evening would carry through to the finish. Shifting up a gear is frankly far not a consideration when the general focus is shit-chat. Yes that’s an ‘s’ and not a ‘c’ – how hilarious.
