The Stafford Brothers aimed to please, and please they did. Lot 33 was pumping on Friday night. I worried the floor was going give way under the weight of a 180-plus crowd – all vibing to the sounds thumping through the speakers.

Hubert took the stage at 10pm, and instantly brought some funky house/breaks, tech and electro, with a double shot of funkiness. People were filtering in, the dancefloor was already filling and the club started to slip into a cool vibe. The ambience was great in Lot – the red walls warm and inviting and the masked fluorescent lights and partitions creating intimate spaces in the club. As Lot began to really fill, the tang of vodka hung over the bar. Dave Norgate played a fantastic techno/electro set, full of confident builds. The crowd response to his tracks was huge and the entire club was in a fantastic mood. A steady line stood outside, all eager to get in and join the kicking party.

The Stafford Brothers Matt and Chris took to the stage at 2am and – though I did not think it possible – even more energy filled Lot. The bar trade began to slow, as people clung to the dancefloor. The serious dancers were pushed back, so they had some room to show off their smooth and technical moves. People climbed on to podiums (or any semi-solid object) to snag a better view of the boys’ theatrics. The Stafford Brothers’ enthusiasm filled the room, and more than dominated the small stage – bopping their heads, waving their hands, pumping up the crowd and feeling their own beats. They were more than happy to throw some poses in the camera’s direction, too.

True to form, The Stafford Brothers laid down their new single and their new remix to check the crowd response. need I say it was huge? This was undoubtedly the peak of the night – the boys were almost floating there was so much energy in the place. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get the track titles for you all – the brothers are AWOL and are apparently still recovering from Friday. Matt and Chris are known for their crowd interaction (Chris climbed a solid ten metres of scaffolding to sing to the crowd at Summafieldayze 2007), so yelling out “this fucking party rocks!” to the pulsing mass in front of them naturally made it rock all the harder.

The Stafford Brothers brought out a purer form of electro than I have heard from them in a while. They tailored the sounds to the crowd and pulled them off effortlessly. These boys truly are a team and have some awesome synergy going on. The crowd showed little sign of slowing down as Sean Kelly took the stage to close the night at 4am. Sean kept the dancefloor packed, playing a wicked combination of techno, electro and house. Sean is a DJ to watch, with awesome skills and stage presence behind the decks.

With the Sony inthemix50 party and Battle Of The Locals 4 coming up, things are looking bright for Pang at Lot 33.
