Following the sad news that Calvertron and Will Bailey were going their separate ways pursuing the solo musings of dance music, I feel it was appropriate they head to Australia for one last dance under their Twocker moniker. On this auspicious Saturday night, they landed in Brisbane primed to tear The Empire apart.

Most of their amazing set consisted of their usual mega low frequency basslines coupled with glitched up vocals, smashing beats and fidget-inspired sounds. The crowd seemed to come and go, allowing a more intimate set as the two gentlemen slammed down tunes for us to dance to. I did find it a bit difficult to pinpoint which tracks were which, but Twocker’s insanely unique blend of destructive basslines, frenzied beats and addictive synths were littered in and around the set perfectly. It certainly cemented the fact they own this genre.

One tune in particular that I was familiar with was Fake Blood’s massively wonky Mars, and it helped to fuel the aggressiveness of their set. Twockers even got a sing along going to a remix of The Killers _Mr. Brightside _, delivering one of the most satisfying builds I’ve heard. The pace they set made me feel as though I’d consumed twenty Red Bulls.

The major highlight for me cam when I flashed Will Bailey my phone with a request, and within 30 seconds Generation Noise the Twocker remix, was sliding into the CDJ1000 and immediately began blaring across the system. It was as though the boys had been building towards this one moment, with the breakdown and lead completely obliterating the dancefloor. Everyone within a 30 metre radius was annihilated and left shaking. Does this sound epic? It was destructively epic!

The only two issues that slightly let me down were miniscule, to say the least. At times Empire’s sound seemed to be working against the lower frequencies, so that the higher ranges seemed too loud and the space between was too distant. Finally, the last remaining issue is the fact that Twocker will no longer be around! But, given they had such a massive send off, I’m feeling a bit better about it all. This night will remain comfortably within the confines of my memory for a long time to come.
