Prime location, lots of cocktails, Ron Carroll & David Morales – what more could a girl want on NYE?? Bungalow 8 pulled out all the big hits this year and I have a feeling that if you missed this you should have been kicking yourself!

Crowds started rolling in just before 8pm and I have to say I was a little worried about the turnout initially. Of course many unfortunate party people had to work during the day and it would have taken some time to get home and make themselves look beautiful!! Never fear all looked smashing and it wasn’t long before the atmosphere reflected NYE as it should!

Starting out upstairs I took in the fabulous view that is Cockle Bay & grabbed a cocktail to celebrate! The mood was chilled but happy and revelers & awaited anxiously for 9pm fireworks! And what a display!!! Being able to see them from 2 points in the Harbor and River was magnetic. The Loft staff were fab and the tray service a really nice touch!

David Morales graced the decks and the crowd was brought up a notch in excitement. This New York City DJ was a real treat for us all and I was ultra excited. Starting in the early 90’s he is responsible for such anthems as Needin’ U and Higher. He has worked with some of the world’s greatest artists including Frankie Knuckles and even Aretha Franklin. He has graced the decks of some of the world most exclusive clubs including Ibiza’s Pacha & Ministry of Sound in London. To say it was an honor to bust a move to his tunes was an understatement. The crowd in The Loft thought so too and we all had a huge woo hoo of appreciation for him that could be heard across the Harbor!!!

Smashing my way downstairs I noticed the difference in crowd atmosphere!! The Bungalow 8 crowd was electrified. It was packed and all were in a fabulous mood to party. Ron Carroll was being introduced and the entire crowd moved forward to hear him play. This particular DJ is responsible for fantastic Chicago House beats and is a world famous name amongst House lovers everywhere. His vocals have earned him the name “The Minister of Sound” and chances are if you love dance music you have heard his velvet voice at some time or other. Responsible for The Prayer, A New Day and most recently Walkin’ Down the Street. He has been on more compilation albums than you can think of in one day and is one of the greatest House DJ’s this decade.

Anthem after anthem rolled out and we all danced our little hearts out. Of course midnight rolled around and “Happy New Year’s” kisses & hugs were aplenty. Sydney Harbor lit up with what would have had of been the best fireworks display in a couple of years and you could hear Sydney at its greatest. I love this city!!! And I have no qualms in saying we live in the best city in the world!!

Ron thought so too and rolled us straight back onto the dance floor after sipping a few celebratory champers and the like. What a night and I was ultra happy that I had decided to make the effort this year. Usually I grace a dance floor somewhere for New Years day and I could not have been happier to spend my night here. Bungalow 8 – you excelled yourselves!!

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
