Friday the 24th April began a big weekend not just for Canberra due to the long weekend, but also for Lot 33 who were playing hosts to some of the best Australia has to offer including inthemix50 #1 DJ tyDi. Arriving early to see as much of the night as possible, it was amusing to see people getting their passes and scooting off to local pubs before coming back later. It must be said that they missed out, because from the start the music was great and you feel the energy in the room as people were up for the big night ahead.

Hubert had the job of warming the crowd up with an excellent early prog set which had the groups on the couches all tapping their feet and nodding their heads through to getting early people up on the floor (and the low wall next to the floor) to have a dance around.

Around 11.30pm the crowd started rolling in just as Beat It starting pumping the crowd up with some big classic trance anthems that had the crowd bouncing all over the floor and singing at the top of their lungs. Of particular highlight was the mix with Delirium Silence and Everything But The Girl’s Missing, and then back again. Beat It finished up with about 12.30 with Dash Berlin Till the Sky Falls Down – a great way to wind up his set and bring on Peekz for the next hour and half. Peekz played some melodic trance to begin with before moving into some awesome trance with a touch of electro, which had the crowd going crazy and gaining some followers judging by the comments on the dance floor.

By the time Beat It wrapped up his set, people were dancing on any space possible, with people bouncing around on top of the speakers (much to the annoyance of security), and the low wall on the other side. The volume of applause for Beat It summed up his performance – Sensational!

Bringing on tyDi to such a venue created an awesome vibe, as everyone packed the dancefloor aiming to get right next to the DJ booth and touch tyDi. He responded well, unleashing D:Folt I Come Running and working the crowd with some new and some old tracks intermixing speaking with the crowd and one crazy scene where he jumped up on the table and sang along to Armin Van Buuren ft Juren Unforgivable with the entire crowd joining in, dancing around and cheering themselves hoarse. tyDi was playing some awesome tracks involving wicked breakdowns and buildups that would finish with a smashing bassline that shook the floor. His mixing was absolutely seamless and an absolute pleasure to watch.

Unfortunately I had to pack it in about 3am and so missed the last part of tyDi and Enerv8’s sets, however I have no doubt from the way that the club was rocking that it was going to be an insane last few hours!

Congratulations must go to both Lot 33 and Pang! For the awesome night they put on and to the DJs who showcased their talents and had the crowd in raptures all night long. It’s events such as this that bring people from throughout Canberra but also from the coast and some interstate travellers too.

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
