If you love cranking techno, filthy house, great people with eclectic surroundings then this is the place to be. Well into the second year with a succession of thriving nights, Tech-Phonics’ latest installment boasted some local flavour at its usual residence, The Crown and Sceptre.
Starting off with Goran (aka Joey da Silva) a newcomer to the Tech-Phonics nights, dishing out a blend of smooth and sexy house with saxophone infused tunes. Entertaining the diners in the courtyard, and a smattering of people in the front bar and back room, Will Jax (aka Will Smerdon) followed on. A regular on the Tech-Phonics line-up this young gun continued with the house and techno. Add a back drop of raunchy displays on the projector, red lighting, and an open fire place mixed with luscious beats which added a sexy, alluring feeling to the air.
Even though the temperature was freezing outside, a steady trickle of punters arrived through the cosy foyer of the Sceptre, into the heated back court yard area. Many of Adelaide’s elite party crew made an effort to come out and support this popular night. Ezee G (DEEP – Fresh FM), a favourite in the Adelaide scene, raised the tempo next and gave the crowd a display of funky techno and sexy house, with a healthy group supporting on the dance floor.
Up next was Adelaide trance legend and promoter Solace, back to back with Alex McKenzie (SHIFT – Fresh FM). Adding a live feeling with keyboards, this duo certainly showed the crew that they know how to bring it. Delivering an outstanding set of cranking techy beats, both looked like they were having a ball and so did the crowd.
With the dance floor heaving Jorge Watts had his turn behind the decks and kept the quality techno pumping for the well liquored crowd of supporters. Dropping Star 69 – Funkagenda Remix by Fatboy Slim had the crowd singing along, it was just sensational!
To round off the evening’s entertainment was half of Tech-Phonics promoter Matt Abstrax. He stepped it up a notch, playing a slightly harder techno set, which was jackin’ from start to finish. Delivering sensational breakdowns, his set was just pure quality as always. Even though it had been a long night, I couldn’t resist a final dance.
There’s not much more I can say about Tech-Phonics that I haven’t already said. Sensational tunes, friendly people, if you haven’t been to one of these shows, then what are you waiting for?
Catch the next installment of Tech-Phonics – Sat 8th August at The Crown and Sceptre.
