Arriving at Ambar just after 1.00AM, I was greeted with some distinct techno/electro/dance, being seamlessly mixed, as we have all come to expect from multi-skilled man Stuart Tyson, who is known only as Bass Kleph by his broad fan-base. As the club filled quickly, it was shaping up to be an enjoyable night to be had by all.

Stuart Tyson (*Bass Kleph*) is fast becoming one of the biggest names in the Australian and international dance scene right now. As a DJ, producer, label owner, engineer, and occasional radio show presenter for triple j it’s easy to understand why. His latest release is part of the Ministry Of Sound Clubbers Guide to 2009 compilation, with the mixing of Disc 3. His mix features songs from many international artists like Enur, Ben Colin, Benny Bennassi, Chris Lake, Infusion and many others.

The intimate but very comfortable surrounds of the Ambar were slowly filled by a mixed crowd, resulting in a relaxed and positive vibe. The dance floor was one of the more densely populated regions within the club. With talented support from Marty McFly, Tone, Micah and Wish it was obvious that the night ahead would be one to remember.

As I watched from afar all I could see was a crowd of heads all moving to the beat being produced on Bass Kleph’s Serato setup. The crowd was a fairly mixed group, all with one thing in common, their love for electro/dance music. Their enthusiasm was incredible, most dancing throughout the whole night.

Stuart played a few songs which can be heard on his MOS mix, including his own $pend My Money jam, as well as material from the likes of Pnau, Sidney Samson and Digitalism. The opening beats of Bonkers sent the crowd literally bonkers, and those standing at the bar instantly ran to the dancefloor, not to miss the song.

Being just a DJ set it can be hard to keep the crowd entertained but obviously Stuart had no trouble keeping his audience captivated by his performance. The crowd’s response towards Bass Klephs encouragement during his 2 hour set was amazing, at certain points he would mute the music and let the crowd fill the void with their singing, especially during the older songs like Fragma’s I Need A Miracle, and Ice Cube’s You Can Do It.

The dancefloor stayed tight until Bass Klephs set finished at 3:00am, met by a huge response from the satisfied crowd. Micah took to the booth and continued keeping the crowd occupied. Overall it was a very enjoyable night; the only downside to such a good event is the line to the bar, which was very long. Bass Kleph is continuing his tour around Australia, you can catch him at all capital cities. He then takes his act worldwide to Europe and Canada.
