To coincide with the release of the second Australian In Trance We Trust compilation, White Sands presented their second night of international tranceness. Lange from the UK and Bart Claessen from Holland were brought along for the white unicorn ride to PLUR-town.
The last few of times I’ve been to Room 680 in Hawthorn I haven’t really enjoyed the sound or the venue setup but this night was thankfully different! Sound in the main room was coming in loud and clear and having the stage setup at the far end meant a nice big area for dancing and singing along to the performance by James and Sara Brooke. I’ve really enjoyed their sets recently and they were on song (thank you) this occasion too.
Steve Strangis followed up and played a great warmup set. He built the tempo nicely without going too overboard on the anthems and played to his slot well. When 1am rolled around it was time for Lange and I was interested to see him as I hadn’t followed his productions or DJing for a while. With tunes that were uplifting but not in your face and vocals lightly sprinkled throughout I really enjoyed the set.
With the full crowd dancing away Lange capped off the first half of his set with ye olde Cafe del Mar before he began to change things up a bit with some more progressive and techy tunes. It was at this time that events conspired against me so I didn’t see how it panned out, or any of Claessen’s set for that matter but while I was there I had a great time. Both rooms had great tunes and the the decor and setup provided plenty of material for cliche conversations. Chalk up another successfull night for White Sands.
