It is by no accident that the girl touted as “Australia’s Sexiest Export” has found herself headlining in major clubs across Australia, Europe, the US and Asia. After coming to our attention via the Robbie Williams video clip Rock DJ, Emily Scott has become quite the favourite of various men’s mags.

Some might say she is a model and should stick to that, but Emily has an obvious passion for music. At the age of 19 Emily did lighting in a Gold Coast nightclub for some of the best DJ’s in the world, and this could be where her desire to later on become a DJ herself originated from.

Emily was due to play between 12.30AM and 2AM, and shorty before her scheduled start she elegantly made her way to the DJ booth. At this stage it looked to be a fairly poor turnout, not by Emily, but crowd numbers were less than I expected, possibly due to a sold-out Parklife on the next day. As our host Simon Barwood ended his set he introduced Emily cleverly, quoting a current tune that sums up Emily nicely… He said “I’m trying to find the ways to describe this girl, without being disrespectful”, and with that Emily laughed and began to spin some tunes for us.

It was a techno/electro styled start to the set, and a few tracks down a remix of The Chemical Brothers’ Hey Boy, Hey Girl was spun, which went down well. Although there weren’t heaps of people out at Rise, the dancefloor was being well represented, as were the punters’ cameras. I have never seen so many people holding up cameras and mobile phones! I briefly pondered if this would be annoying to Emily, but I guess at least this is one DJ that is very used to being photographed. It was like Perth’s “pervarazzi” (myself included) were out in force tonight to catch a glimpse of this glamour girl.

Other highlights of Emily’s set for me was the re-rub of Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit, a Zombie Nation remix, and at the end when she played Cosmic Gate’s Fire Wire to a packed dancefloor. All throughout her set there were a lot of cool vocal tracks with bouncy bass lines that made you want to bop away with a big smile. The boys and girls in attendance would agree that Emily created a very warm vibe.

Emily Scott stuck around for a while to pose for some happy snaps then it was off to get some beauty sleep. All in all it was a pretty good night headlined by a very pretty lady.
