With pristine skies and beautiful sunshine on Sunday the Sunday Sessions was on the cards. Arriving a little later than usual but without missing out on a seat, positive energy was emanating from Ceres with everyone settled into their Sunday afternoon with a smile on every dial.

Being a quieter week than usual gave us ample space to lie down a rug and kick back and relax. Having a drink or two Lubdub (live) was going off with excellent dub music which rattled the speakers. Today was all about live music with every artist playing live. I find Sunday Sessions to be a perfect way to relax after a hectic or not so hectic weekend and socialize before the week ahead. Also, to ride out and enjoy the beautiful weather while it lasts is also a major factor, especially with only a few more Sunday afternoons here to go.

Taking us into twilight was Barton Strom of Antix. He played live and his set consisted of numerous Fiord songs which move on the side of techno/progressive with a very deep feel to them. Fiord has a sensational array of sounds and I like the way he infuses certain melodies to create a beat, with an indefinable nostalgic quality to some of his tracks which I love. People at Ceres loved the techno beats that Fiord is known and loved for.

Antix then turned to the decks and played a DJ set. The party was really at full tilt by then as the dance floor is packed and everyone is chatting and generally enjoying themselves thoroughly. He is definitely a fan of Robert Babicz as he infused many of Babicz’s tracks into his set which was amazing.

Ceres is always an enjoyable and social afternoon. It is also handy for people north-side of the city as it is only a hop skip and a jump there. As there are only a few Sunday Sessions to go I highly suggest getting your butt down there and having a crack because before we know it it’ll be over and winter. So get down there people and make the most of it!
