It was a sultry Saturday night in the Nation’s capital. The punters were out and about and their spirits were high. Lucky for us Canberrans, two of the most renowned Sydney DJs, Goodwill and Tim McGee were headlining the decks at the infamous party place, Lot 33.
After many-a-beverages I arrived with my entourage around 1.00am, ready for an action packed evening. There was no queue out front and so entry into the gig was quick. First stop was the bar, where we grabbed ourselves a drink and took our places up front on the dance floor. There was a small, but keen crowd getting their groove on as the support DJs worked the room. The atmosphere was welcoming as the sounds of deep house, alongside a serving of funky remixes prepped the party-goers for the big names to come.
The anticipation was rising when it was time for Tim McGee to take over the reigns at around 2.00am. As the main-man at Hussle I was expecting something with a bit of bite. He interacted well with the crowd, and as the set progressed, a swarm of buzzing bodies filled the room and got down and dirty on the dance floor. McGee played an overall smooth and steady set with just the right amount of energy, but he was just lacking that extra bit of ‘something’.
To top-off the evening’s entertainment was no-other than the Ministry of Sound mash-up man, aka Goodwill, who jumped on the decks around 3.30am. He laid down some solid tunes and sent the crowd into a frenzy with his ‘traditional’ serving of electro-house goodness. This Australian dance music guru kept the party raging into the wee hours of the morning!
The night was definitely a good one, with McGee and Goodwill producing some solid sounds that worked the room and pleased the punters. The choice of venue was a definite winner, attracting the right kind of crowd. Kudos go out to Pang who have yet again, put on a great event. McGee and Goodwill… perhaps another visit to the Nation’s capital? We’d like to think so.
