Ourstyle has been created to showcase Hardstyle and Hardcore in Western Australia. If you like your beats hard and fast then this where you will hear the best in Hardstyle and Hardcore presented by our states most talented and forward thinking DJs, Producers and MCs on a night devoted to celebrating the creativity and diversity in the hard scene.

The launch kicked off with Techen warming up the floor with a good selection of hardstyle classics and also some newer tracks. Next on the decks was many time PDMA Best Hardcore DJ, Rousa. This man knows how to play a great set, and did not disappoint. Rousa was joined in the booth with Ourstyle’s MC for the night, MC DK. While Rousa got the club moving and a grooving with his hardcore beats, MC DK amped up the hyper crowd with his flow on the mic, not overdoing things but having just the right amount of presence.

After Rousa’s one and a half hour set, Pace took over the ones and twos and got settled into some more good hardstyle. Zany & DV8’s Nothing Else Matters was a crowd pleaser, and by now the club was beginning to look very full. Daze followed on from Pace, and played a good set of hardcore to the almost capacity crowd. The 2-3am set belonged to veteran Hutcho and up-and-comer Animalist. Hutcho kicked things off with some Satizfaction from Derb, which went down well, and the pair mixed and scratched their way through an awesome set.

Auscore tore the place apart with a solid hardcore set, which paved the way for Tekneeqzz to begin his onslaught on the impressive Rise system. Tekneeqzz was in great form, dropping dance floor destroyers like Rambo is a Pussy by Beholder & Max Enforcer, and Shiverz by D Block & S Te Fan being just a couple of notable mentions from the set which was in my opinion the highlight of the night. Expect big things from Tekneeqzz in his future sets at Rise.

Last up to close out the night with some hardcore was Ravix, but sadly, by this stage I was well and truly spent and had to bail. By all accounts, the launch of Ourstyle was a huge success, one of the biggest nights I have seen at the Rise that wasn’t featuring an international or touring artist. Mad props and respect to everybody behind the event at Rise, but particularly to the promoter and ideas man Christian for putting this night together, and not only this night, but for Ascension and Resonate for the trance and drum & bass fans respectively. All three genre-specific nights have done extremely well on their opening nights and the future looks bright for DJ’s and punters alike to reap the rewards of the new variety on offer at Perth’s premier dance club.

The next Ourstyle will be at Rise Nightclub, Northbridge, on Friday the 16th of July. Doors open 9.30pm, free entry before 10. If you are in Perth and a fan of hardcore or hardstyle, there is no reason why you shouldn’t be there!
