On a cold drizzly early spring night Villa Nightclub embarked on hosting one of the leaders in the electro house world: Miles Dyson. Having just blown away punters less than a year ago at Breakfest, he returned to the more cosy confines of the Boomtick venue for one night only. I could already tell the crowd was in for something special on this night, with Grantley Hyde Vs James Francis giving the crowd generally crowd pleasing tunes to the already capacity venue. Local boys Signal Drivers were next up, and rattled the massive Villa sound system, rocking the decks to the sound of filthy breaks, house and electro – and everything in between. This would be one of the best acts I have seen in the years of attending gigs for the boys definitely did not disappoint.

And then, just like that, one of the most epic into tunes kick started the set. With balloons and confetti dropping from the ceiling from the first dropped track, Villa went into frenzy. Showing off both new and old tracks, Miles showed that his commitment to Australian fans was stronger than ever. Bombs like Rubber Man and Anthem all made the crowd heave. The mayhem continued during his two hour set and the party vibe never left. One of the best things about Miles is that he utilizes so many different genres into his sets: you never know what you will get. After what was a great (although too short) set, local heroes Philly Blunt and Tha Nightcrawlaz came in to finish off anyone still conscious after the truly epic night everyone had just witnessed.

I really want to give giant props to Destination? for throwing one hell of a party. Usually booked for large festivals, it was great to see the man tear up the decks in our cosy little city. Miles mentioned before his set “I think I am getting too old for this shit”. Well to be honest Mr. Dyson, I’m pretty sure you have more than a few years left up your sleeve.
