The Met is probably one of the biggest venues in Brisbane: it looks unobtrusive from the outside yet it’s huge on the inside. Having featured such artists as Crystal Castles, Peaches and various after parties, it’s no surprise the Met would play host Brisbane’s to the Ministry of Sound Clubbers Guide 2010. The good thing about the Met is the fact that they can have different types of music without any sound clashing. In the front room hip hop and RnB played with a party of people already dancing away – some were in fancy dress; one even featuring a clown ‘fro!

Anna Lunoe is up first on the stage and the venue is pretty much empty at such an early time. This is a shame because Lunoe is one of the biggest DJs in the country. The Met has taken advantage of the great space, filling the room with entertaining visuals, strobes and lit up signs. Blow up rockets hung suspended above the DJ, with animations of a young Michael Jackson and Anna Lunoe’s name. The Ministry of Sound logo was well projected onto opposite walls, creating an atmosphere for a big night ahead. Lunoe smoothly mixes between tracks, playing songs by Flight Facilities and Kid Cudi. It’s a shame no one is here to see her as she has a natural talent for filling the dance floor. Even if no one is there to fill it, it’s hard not to move. As she bounces around behind her MacBook pro and CDJ’s, more people slowly fill the dance floor – and it’s still only early. Her set consists of some electro house beats and she also adds in some electro pop for good measure – similarly to her mix on the Ministry of Sound Clubbers Guide CD. As Lunoe comes to the end of her set, she confidently dances away to a great remix of La Roux’s Bulletproof.

Up next is Sam La More who is already waiting and ready for his set. Within two tracks of playing, double the amount of people shift to the dance floor as they shuffle – yes, shuffle – and move to his electro beats. Most of the crowd tonight consists of young girls and guys who like to have a drink and dance the night away. La More throws in the ‘Woo! Yeah!’ sample behind a heavy bass line as the strobe flashes in time to the beat; timed lights really do create a night. La More pushes through some more bass heavy tracks as people move to the dance floor to enjoy the rest of what was a successful Clubbers Guide event.
