People were not at Villa Nightclub . For whatever reason the newly crowned ITM50 #13 didnt get much attention on this night. For whatever reason, the punters missed a smashing set from one of the best up and coming DJ’s in Australia. Bass Kleph is known for his extensive work touring to all parts of the globe, finding time to assemble more than a few compilation mixes along the way. Currently holding the number #1 spot on Beatport for his smashing remix of Joan Reyes Shakedown it is hard to see why more numbers didn’t turn up.
Arriving at Villa just before his performance, the crowd was given some good warm up tracks from local Kastel. While not the best time to break into a set, it did set the tone for what was about to unfold. Breaking in with some friendly house the crowd seemed a little shy about breaking fully into party mode. Only when Bass dropped his remix of Hook N Sling’s Gotta Make a Move did the crowd started embracing the level of DJ that was performing. Playing a safe genre pleasing set, it was THAT song that broke the crowd into a frenzy. Simply put, Duck Sauce’s Barbra Streisand. As Villa filled with cries of “woo’s”, the small but lively crowd kept the tempo running until Bass Kleph finished his set.
Considering the man had been here before only a few months back, it may have put a dent in the attendance for the nights gig. Villa is usually a packed house and it is strange to see it any less than half full. In spite of this, Bass Kleph left the few punters in attendance with a very good memory to look back on.
