As Queenslanders all-over roll up their sleeves, and join in the state’s clean-up efforts, it is without a doubt that support in the wake of the disaster is superb. Responding swiftly with a parade of Australia’s best, Gold Coast’s Platinum hosts the most caring event of the year.

Simply known as danceAID, the club community has jumped on board to raise funds for victims of the flood. With a national tour planned and a digital compilation, 100 percent of the proceeds from the tour head straight up to the flood ravaged Queensland’s to help.

With a festival of a line-up, featuring superstars Tommy Trash, Goodwill, Baby Gee, TV Rock and The Stafford Brothers, it was obvious that this unique opportunity to help would draw a great crowd. Kicking it off early, Platinum regulars Joey Mojo and Craig Roberts entertained the punters with their unique DJing style, while DJ Gemstar and local beauty Jamie Lee Wilson wooed the adoring audience with their quick set of heart-racing, toe tapping tunes.

After a quick visit upstairs to check out the swagger of celebrities hidden around sister-club Lil Sister, including rugby legend Matt Rogers, surfing king Mark Occhilupo and the beautiful Brooke Evers, Ministry of Sound idols Goodwill and Tommy Trash work their magic downstairs. Bouncing off the walls in time with the intensified bass drops while working the crowd into a frenzy, the DJs electrified the entire nightclub.

With ears already beginning to ring, local Gold Coast duo the Stafford Brothers stormed the main decks. On the eve of their television debut, both brothers reward the adoring punters with entertaining antics, fantastic presence and brilliant song choice for the entirety of the set. With help from long-time friend Timmy Trumpet, both Matt and Chris control their audience with ease. Dropping a splash of Calvin Harris, Arrested Development and one hell of an Underworld remix, the pair continue to justify just why they are one of Australia’s premier dance acts around.

While Queensland attempts to rebuild its state, the ever increasing support and love has been truly remarkable. Being just one of the several flood relief gigs currently scheduled, for all genres of music, it is this unique opportunity that allows the community to stand as one and proudly help anyone affected. It really is the Australian way.
