Ultraworld 22 @ old Le Rox, Adelaide (09/06/2002)

Created On April 15th, 2006 by kafalicious

It was back to the home of Adelaide raving, as the Ultraworld team delivered The Time Machine in the old Le Rox building. The vibe was electric as the raving collective united once again to party to some absolutely rockin’ tunes in all three arenas all night long.

For me, the night began at midnight to find decent sized crowds in both the Ancient Land of Egypt arena with Maestro D on decks playing some old skool anthems and Patch in the Ultraworld Space Station dishing out some quality funked-up drum and bass tunes.

I was overwhelmed upon making the trek downstairs to find the Transylvania – Count Dracula arena almost full and fired up to the sounds of DJ Renegade as she let loose with another of her trademark upfront and rockin’ sets. Absolutely wikkid! Next up, Devious. Whilst I really liked the first track he played which was nice and melodic, I couldn’t quite get into the next one and so wandered off to see what was happening elsewhere.

I made it back upstairs to find Patch and MCs Mennen and Pab finishing up with a nice and hard DnB track to a now nicely packed dancefloor. DJ Noddy took over, playing mostly tunes that were a little more laid back, with some sexy vocals and a lot of funk. But it was hard house that I was looking for and I found it in the Egyptian room where Wade C was pumping the room with some quality hard house tracks.

Ed Real (UK) warned us to expect it hard; the dancefloor loved having it, as much as he enjoyed giving it! I only managed to catch an hour and a half of his set that took listeners on a predominately uplifting and uptempo journey, mixing it up through a range of styles including hard house, trance, techno and even a little hardcore with trippy rave sounds throughout. Very cool.

Needing a bit of a breather I headed back upstairs to find Peshay (UK) and MC Moose (UK) working the dancefloor nicely in the main room but it was in the smaller one that I found myself trapped, where H-Bomb was working the dancefloor into a frenzy and sending people crazy with some hardcore mayhem.

By the time I made it back downstairs Karri-K (Finland) had taken to the helm with his mix of hard house / trance to continue the party in very fine form. Odyssey followed, taking it right to the hard dance lovers with an exceptional set of bangin’ hard tracks to keep everyone satisfied. Nice work Captain!

Back upstairs once again to the sounds of Mr S, unleashing the harder dance sounds that we love him for. Unfortunately it seems that there were several attacks of the gremlins, but overall not a bad set! Next up DJs Submission and Quantum who went on to wreak a little havoc with a great set of hard nrg tunes with Quantum showcasing some of his fine skills on the decks including some tidy scratching. I like it!

What a fantastic night! Everyone I know that went had an absolutely wikkid time and a lot of fun. The heat was, at times, a little stifling but I guess you have to expect that when you have a capacity event with people going crazy all over the place. Big thumbs up to the Ultraworld crew, you guys definitely know how to party in style, yeah baby!
