Anyone for a bounce on the ‘trimampolene’! Cabana productions had done it again… After missing most of Synapse II, I was destined to have a great, long night out this cup eve, without missing one single track spun on those decks and I did exactly that!
Once again having a secret location, the phone was rung, however this time the exact location was given… skipping the checkpoint this time. As I walked into the gates of this unknown warehouse, passing through a long shed filled with dirt, I managed to see two feet in front of me to the door which led into the main room. “Who’s that on the other side of the room?”... talk about dark… the scenery fitting in quite well with the ‘dark and eary’ music.
Come 11:30pm the dance floor was starting to fill however the punters were a little reluctant to start dancing. Never the less once Dj Neuro and Dave Riddler started banging out the hard trance the crowd started showing what they were made of. With a reasonably good start to the night, the only minor disappointment at this stage, was that the only 2 lights in the whole room were flashing right in front of everyone’s eyes whilst they faced the decks, which were sitting on a balcony similar to that of synapse II.
Hellraiser was next to walk into the lime light with Jules close to follow in a joint set. They both entered with an absolute roar and round of applause from the crowd. Wasting now time Hellraiser threw his hands into the air punching as high as he could faster then lightening, ‘resistance is futile’. I don’t think I’ve seen him so hyped up at any other party before. They both played a very dark and energetic set, however half way through their set the amp for their monitor speakers kept cutting in and out, making it very difficult to mix songs. Nevertheless when Hellraiser banged out “25;17 by Dj Tomcraft” not one man was standing in a room filled with a sea of dancers. I quote from one of the punters himself… “Hellraiser was goooooood”.
Next in line was Thomas Trouble (US, Blutonium Records), a man who needed no introduction with the crowd going completely wild, clapping and screaming. He began with a silence, then all of a sudden bang! bang! bang! Those three beats froze the crowd and sent them into a frenzy as he threw out his first track, the beat was so fast the crowd were struggling to keep up. Scott Project seemed to be the hit of the night with almost every Dj so far banging out one of his tracks including Thomas Trouble’s first track, ‘overdrive – Scott Project’.
The crowd was a great mix of new school ravers, old school ravers and even ravers in cats tails… Something I haven’t seen since fluff went out and phatties came into the picture.
Dr B had quite a hard act to follow, but he did damn good job of it. The only thing I have to say is that he did slow it down a bit too soon and threw the crowd off track a bit as they started moving outside to check out the scenery. This is where the outdoor trampoline and skate ramp were found. I think in the darkness of the night I did manage to see one kid slide down the skate ramp on a wheelie bin? As I walked back into the main room I was surprised to hear Dr B play an unmixed version of Sober by Tool. Seemed like an eary kind of ‘break’ between all the hard trance. He did however manage to bring back the crowd when he whipped out Polar – Landen. The whole room was rocking harder then they had been all night.
Klasic & Sanders were the highlight of the night with their new track Devils Ear, which will be released in record stores on the 15th of November 2002. They managed to keep the crowd dancing bringing up the beat ready for Nexus and Scott Alert, who pulled a klassik closing set, erupting the dance floor in the midst of the morning sunlight, streaming in the windows, finishing with ‘Full intention’. The dance floor had at least one hundred punters yelling out one more… one more! There is always time for one more.
Syanpse four I hear is set to be this coming December? Please guys make sure there’s some running water this time!
