After hearing rave reports on the previous Sin City, I certainly was not going to miss out on this one. I arrived at 10pm, so I could check out every set and as soon as I reached the bottom of the stairs at the Upside Bar, I knew I was going to be in for a memorable night. There were already groups of people gathered and the vibe was very warm and friendly.

I was welcomed by the spectacular visuals from Morph and Spook, which were on a huge screen directly to the right of the dancefloor. Their clever and creative work really set the mood and I couldn’t keep my eyes off the screen.

First up behind the decks was JR, who had me dancing in an instant. Dishing out a combination of old school house and fresh tracks, it proved to be one of the best sets I have heard in a long time. Not only was his mixing perfect, but his ability to please the crowd constantly was sensational. We were taken back in time with some heavenly old school classics, not to mention the impeccable scratching that was put on display. I for one, could not stop moving for the whole set. Meanwhile, we had Rob on the bongos drumming perfecltly to the rythym as JR continued to deliver more tantalizing beats.

AJ was up next and as soon as he took position he entertained the crowd with the uplifting sounds of house and sustained everyones enjoyment. He continued to please us by delivering fat, funky tracks, which resulted in everyone blissfully grooving along. A thoroughly enjoyable set which endured the happy atomosphere.

Taking over from AJ, was Ben Morris, who performed flawlessly. Keeping up with the funky house feel, he continued to lash out a flow of very tasty tracks and built up the hype enormously. Throughout his set, we were rewarded with some deep luscious sounds and he didn’t fail to delight the cheerful bunch.

So far, the quality all night was outstanding. I had witnessed overwhelming performances by all the DJ’s, and also had the pleasure of experiencing some extraordinary images by Morph and Spook, which was also complimented by Rob on the drums. Everyone worked simultaneously together and that was motivating enough.

Langdon Cook was the man to make the evening complete. I noticed a look of sheer pleasure on everyone’s face by now and Langdon knew how to keep the happy expression on their faces. Deep, smooth, euphoric sounds retained everyone in high spirits and he carried out plenty more saucy beats and just because the night was drawing to an end, this did not stop his devine choice of zesty uplifting tracks.

But as always, all good things must come to an end, but I felt very satisfied and couldn’t believe that for a $10.00 cover charge, I was exposed to such talent and I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

On my way out I asked Dave the promoter if Sin City would be a regular event, and was advised that they are put on every two weeks, so do yourself a favour and go and check the next one out. You won’t regret it.

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
