Well, well, well, what a night. I arrived at Geisha around 11.30pm and the anticipation in seeing Andy Caldwell was giving me butterflies! Sexy house music mixed by James A was getting the DEEP CITY faithful in the mood, leaving off with the soon to be huge Don’t Change by Musiq on Def Soul. It was a perfect build up for what was yet to come… an amazing night of deep funky dubbed out house music.

Andy Caldwell arrived at Geisha around 12.30 looking very classy and chilled accompanied by rising star DJ-producer-lara croft-Natalie Imbruglia-lookalike, Scarlette Etienne. Then at 12.50, the place got real busy, REAL QUICK. My friends and I could not wait any longer to hear the OM records label man in action and the vibe when Andy started was amazing, with the room (almost literally) filling up with love.

Early in to his set when Andy dropped IIIIIII CAAAAANNNTT
WAIIIIITTTTTTTTT and with the crowd singing every word, it was one of those house music moments you read about… everyone with a smile on their face. As his set progressed, so did his sound, as the house vocals and beats disappeared and we were left with beautiful house keys and melodies on top of an almost progressive rhythm. Playing a more deep/dubbed out/ tech house sound seemed to surprise everyone in the room, as most of us were expecting beautiful sensual vocals the whole nightlong. With that said though I still enjoyed Art to breathe by Kojack somewhere in the mix of his deeper selections.

By the time Andy finished his set, the crowd gave him a cheer to thank him for his visit and selections and handed over the wheels to was Dan Stinton, who quickly re-introduced the soulful vocal variety much to the enjoyment of the crowd with a few well known Geisha favourites such as Celebrate Life and the “Baby this, Baby that” track that still eludes us to this day Stino!

The last DJ of the night was Joby and boy I do I like this DJ as he always drops a Martin Solveig remix in there and another all time favourite of this ITM’er, Find a Friend.

It seemed that a lot of the crowd left after andy caldwell’s set, which was quite disappointing. Maybe because they were too nacred after his set which is understandable given the harder tracks that he had dropped?

All in all, it was a wicked night. I just want to say a big MERCI BEAUCOUP to Andy for his love and dedication to music and wish him the best of luck in the near future and one more thing for Andy >>>>>COME BACK AS MUCH AS YOU WANT!!!!
