Tell us about your latest twisted tekno cabaret event! MissP: Arhh the lovely girls from Kunt! They have been a sight for sore eyes & ears in Brissy for a while now. I’m mates with them and MONSTER ZOKU ONSOMB! was created when Lulu got back from a stint in Japan. Myself and kiki ill/nam shub of enki did a few shows in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne with Kunt and their Japanese noise comrades Defectro. From that tour came the idea to combine all of our sounds into one crazy show and MZO was born. Its great fun putting noise, lounge, bass and fucked up beats together with a silly stage show :) We supported Tipper in Brisbane recently and it was a blast! KK: And where in hell do you find all those zany samples? MissP: The bad taste fairy smiles on me when i visit the local waste transfer station and puts old records in my hot little hands…and there is always the internet! KK: So how did Miss P Leisure all begin? MissP: I was asked to theme a room at a party, and “Miss Penelope Leisure’s Humpy Bunny Barn” was created…it was a kooky/lounge/retro-playboy kinda theme…with my own bunny girls serving free champagne ‘till 7 in the morning… KK: Where does Penelope Leisure source her inspiration? MissP: Well, leisure activities…I am very good at that.. I’m throwing a chocolate fondu/hot tub party Easter Friday.. also retro sub culture, motivated people…those crazy catz from Russia:Messer Fur Frau Muller & Messur Chups are the beez kneez! Expect a lot of them in my set on Sunday night… and of course MUSIC MissP: I am sorry to say ..I save the best stuff for MONSTER ZOKU ONSOMB! But I will have a few little surprise in store. KK: This week’s Lasergun has been dubbed the “super fuck fashion week special”. Do you collaborate with a costume designer and can the Laserboys-and-girls expect to be floored with a special PL truly trippy fashion offering? MissP: Ummm….no designer for Miss P…just op shop luck..find a wickedly patterned muumuu, take it in a bit and wha lah! KK: Sunday’s also dubbed to be an All-Girl-Extravaganza (with some very dodgey be-frocked exceptions). Tell us about some of your other girly collaborations MissP: I performed with Kunt at this years BDO at the Gold Coast…it was a drinking game performance to German oompah & involved us loosing items of our traditional beer drinking costumes and being all industrial like, with whips and showers of grinder sparks…very traditional :) KK: Are you travelling with pals Team Plastique (playing at Revolver this Easter)? MissP: I will meet up with them at Loop on Saturday night – Axel has a DJ spot…Unfortunately I shall miss their Revolver show..might catch them in Berlin later in the year tho…legs crossed! KK: Melbourne boy David Thrussell (Soma, Black Lung, Snog) seems to be a reluctant recluse in Melbourne, yet seems to collaborate up in Brisbane a fair bit. How do you drag his talented ass up there?! MissP: That relationship started at a 4ZZZ Marketday festival in ‘96, and Triple Zed and I have been bringing him up to play ever since…I think he likes the weather…and isn’t Brissy famous for all the sexy goth chicks…;) KK: As a seasoned host on 4ZZZ, will you be gracing our airwaves while you’re in Melbourne town? MissP: If thrusta [aka David Thrussell] is on the air wed I might pop in and visit PBS…love to see their new set up.
