After the first Scot Project track ‘x’ was released on Overdose, closely followed by the hugely successful ‘U’ on Overdose/Positiva it wasn’t long until Scot was forced to forego local residencies to play gigs in USA, Canada, Brazil, Russia and Australia, developing a loyal fan base across the Globe.
Boasting a string of sensational production and remix projects, Scot Project is set to follow this success during 2004 with his stunning debut album. A frequent visitor to Australian shores, Scot Project will be bringing his futuristic sound once more into the country throughout September.
What are the trademark elements of the DJ Scot Project sound?
It’s the combination of percussion beats with melodic elements and of course a pounding bass-line.
What makes you different from every other DJ in the world?
There aren’t many who represent my style of hard trance. That’s the most striking trait, I suppose.
What do you do to maintain your place at the forefront of worldwide hard dance?
I try not to copy anybody else, I am faithful to my own style. Sometimes I push the genre boundaries to keep hard trance in motion and progress.
In your opinion, where is the hard dance sound headed over the next few months and years?
It’s hard to give any prognosis as music is constantly in motion.
Of all the clubs you have played at throughout your career, which ones were your favourites?
There are a lot of really great clubs I have already played, it’s impossible to say which is my favourite. Recently I played at the Coach in Ireland and that was really a remarkable night.
What more would you like to achieve in dance music?
I have never had exact goals. I just want to earn enough money to live and to buy all the records I want to have. I would appreciate it a lot if the people still liked my kind of music in the future.
A frequent visitor to Australia, what is it that keeps making you want to come back?
I still haven’t managed to see a Koala bear in real life, I hope I’ll manage this time! I’m really looking forward to playing in Australia again because the last tours were really enjoyable for both me and the crowd.
What do you do on tour when you’re not playing a set or recovering?
I have always my laptop with me and during the week I will try to go on producing new tracks and hopefully will have enough time to appreciate visiting Australia’s hot spots.
What have you learnt from touring and playing to so many different audiences that you apply to both your DJing and your personal life?
I am really glad to having the possibility to encounter various cultures, countries and nice people all over the world. This definitely enriches both creativity for my music and of course has made me more open minded.
