Are you a lover of the “boompty boomp?” If jackin’ Chicago house is your thing, then you can’t get any more Chicago than Bryan Jones. With seven years as a producer and 5 years as a DJ, Brian’s earned accolades both as one half of High Caliber (with Mike Gillenwater) and for his own work on labels such as Detour, Black Cherry and Aroma. Brian’s tracks have earned him props from some of the biggest names in house music including Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, and Pete Tong. Any DJ worth their weight probably has a few Bryan Jones tunes/ remixes knocking around in their record box.

While he is a big name in his own right in the house scene these days, his work under the guise of High Caliber is what gave him his first major break as a producer. Jones and production partner Gillenwater had actually played in punk and rock bands in high school before deciding to take the audio production courses that pushed them deeper into dance music. Mike originally emerged as a drum n bass DJ before they got together to make the tunes that made their name. This collaboration has perhaps been one of the most, if not the most significant of Jones’ career. With early inspirations such as Daft Punk, Rhythm Masters and Paul Anthony (who he’d later collaborate with) Brian now epitomises the quintessential jackin’ house sound that Chicago is renowned for.

These days producers such as Skud Bloom and Joey Youngman are just some of the A-list artists in line to remix his work. Bryan’s tracks have been featured on compilations such as MoS Sessions mixed by Mark Farina and House of Om mixed by Colette and DJ Heather.
