George Evelyn’s Nightmares on Wax outfit have proved themselves to be one of the most revered ‘stoner chill’ acts since emerging in the mid 90s on seminal UK label Warp Records. With several acclaimed albums to his credit, including his most recent LP from 2006 ‘In A Space Outta Sound’, George has returned to Australia with the Nightmares On Wax Sound System for the Good Vibrations Festival this month.
Tim Hardaker chatted down the line to George while he was kicking back in his hotel room in Melbourne, speaking about his recent move to Ibiza, his thoughts on the emo rock trend, what it’s like sharing a label roster with a mad genius like Aphex Twin, and whether he still indulges in the green stuff now a decade on from his ‘Smoker’s Delight’ album.
