STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW

Sitting comfortably in place amongst top tier DJs like Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk and Armin Van Buuren, Dutchman Ferry Corsten has inhabited the top rankings of DJ Mag’s annual poll for several years. Making his name as one of the uplifting trance scene’s most revered identities, in recent times he’s prided himself on a new trailblazing direction, fusing elements of electro, tech and breaks, with his chosen and renowned style of trance. While his new sound has been heralded by dance fans around the world, and seen him winning praise from a broad range of music listeners, Ferry reveals that he’s still happy to call himself “a trance DJ”.

With a brand new album waiting in the wings, ‘L.E.F.’ (which stands for Loud Electronic Ferocious – a fitting double entendre as the word ‘lef’ in Dutch means “guts”), Ferry recently spoke with ITM’s National Editor Tim Hardaker. Fresh from a snowboarding holiday, he’s had a quiet start to 2007, but he’s looking forward to getting back into the swing of things, starting with his March tour of Australia.

Ferry Corsten’s new album ‘L.E.F’ is out soon on Positiva/EMI. He tours the country in March with the Future Music Festival.
