STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW

Growing up close by the famed Glastonbury festival site, and as the product of hippy parents, a career in a creative pursuit like music almost seemed pre-destined for identical twins Ned and Maff Scott. As the founding members and driving force behind UK live act The Egg, they’ve had a long and fruitful career to date, releasing several acclaimed albums (‘Travelator’ and ‘Albumen’) and featuring regularly on festival bills in their home country.

They’ve topped polls as the band most people wanted to see at the legendary Big Chill Festival, and they’ve managed to play Glastonbury every year since the early 00s. However their identity well and truly crossed over to become a household name amongst clubbers when their single ‘Walking Away’ was given an electro house overhaul by German producer Tocadisco. For many bands, the thought of having a remix of their own track perform better in the charts than any of their original material would be a little disheartening, but as Maff explained to Tim Hardaker when they spoken recently, they’re more than willing to keep an open mind about things.

The Egg’s album ‘Forwards’ is out now on Central Station/MRA, with a special edition bonus disc of remixes. Be sure to catch them on the remaining dates of the Future Music Festival.
