STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
Releasing his first record way back in 1989, Josh Wink has been a revered name on the global electronic music scene for longer than most. Releasing more seminal techno tracks that you can shake a really large stick at – including genre defining hits like ‘Higher State Of Consciousness’, ‘Don’t Laugh’ and ‘Superfreak’ – Australian fans of his work have had to wait far too long to experience the mayhem of Josh Wink up close and personal. Touring for the first time in the mid 90s, and then again around the turn of the century, he’s finally returned this month for the Future Music Festival.
Angus Paterson of inthemix recently wrangled a few minutes on the phone with Wink while he relaxed at home in Philadelphia. They spoke about the reason behind his somewhat infrequent visits to Australia and his thoughts on the minimal craze sweeping through clubs across the world. After all, who better to ask considering he’s been playing it since the early 90s!
Be sure to catch Josh Wink on his first Australian tour in years at the Future Music Festival throughout March.
