STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
Although there’s a been a few of them in recent years, of all the artists to breakthrough on the MySpace wave Calvin Harris is undoubtedly one of the most exciting. A Scotsman still in his early 20s, Harris scored a top 10 UK hit earlier in 2007 with his infectious electro-pop single ‘Acceptable In The 80s’. It’s seen him labeled ‘the next Mylo’, although it’s unclear whether it’s his love for cheesy synths, country of origin or commanding use of melody that’s drawing the comparisons (most likely, it’s a case of ‘all of the above’).
Calvin’s ‘so hot right now’ status was cemented recently when he was personally invited by our very own princess of pop, Miss Kylie Minogue, to write tracks for her new album. As tabloids do, the invitation led to media reports that he was her new beau. Are the reports to be believed or ignored? ITM’s Tim Hardaker spoke with Harris recently and got all the sordid details direct from the horse’s mouth.
Calvin Harris’ single ‘Acceptable In The 80s’ is out now through Sony BMG. It’s damn funky, we recommend you check it out quick smart!
