STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW

It’s gotten to the stage now where if you say “the Hilltop Hoods are Australia’s biggest hip hop act”, you just end up sounding like a broken record. They’ve gone much further than being the biggest fish in the Aussie hip hop pond; they’re now a bona fide major player on the Australian music scene in general – winning awards, releasing top 10 albums and selling out national tours.

The most rewarding part of it all – for both the Hilltop Hoods and their legion of dedicated fans – is that they’ve remained staunchly independent throughout, choosing to work their way to the top entirely off their own success, as opposed to riding through on a major record label’s backing and commensurate marketing budget.

The band recently unleashed their most ambitious project to date, the ‘Restrung’ album, recorded with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. ITM’s Mo’Funk caught up with Pressure to get the lowdown on the ASO collaboration, their forthcoming Splendour In The Grass show, and plans for the next album.

The Hilltop Hoods brand new collaborative album ‘Restrung’, recorded with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, is out now through Obese. The Hoods also play the sold out Splendour In The Grass festival in Byron Bay, August 4th & 5th.
