You might not be familiar with the name just yet, but you’ll have definitely heard the tune, as Italian Alex Gaudino’s mash of Rune’s Ibiza classic ‘Calabria’ and the Crystal Water chart-topper ‘Destination Unknown’ is more infectious than tuberculosis. Thankfully, the symptoms are quite different though…

Having been a mainstay on the European dance scene for over 10 years, Gaudino’s credentials are tight, with a history in A&R, production and remix work for labels like Flying Records, UMM and Rise. He was even nominated as Best European A&R at the European Music Awards in London, 2000.

His breakthrough hit is ‘Destination Calabria’, and interestingly it started out way back in 2003, but sample clearance held it back from release until this year. It’s done nothing to harm the swell of underground support for the tune, however, and it’s now hotly tipped to be one of the biggest tracks of 2007.

With his single out now and racing up the charts, and following the recent announcement he’d be heading to Australia for the first time in September and October with Godskitchen, ITM’s Tim Hardaker broke down the language barrier to speak with Alex recently.
