News flash, news flash! Kid Kenobi no longer plays breaks! If this comes as something of a shock to you, chances are you’ve either been stuck in Iraq for the past 3 years, or you just haven’t made much of an attempt to keep your finger on the pulse of dance music trends. Regardless, Kenobi continues to see himself in demand, and not just in Australia but abroad.

Is he somewhat exasperated by the fact that he’s still justifying to people why he’s no longer bound by the confines of one musical genre? The fact that the press release for his brand new CD for Ministry Of Sound, ‘Sessions’, comes with the caution; “Warning: people, this is not a breaks album,” indicates the answer is possibly ‘yes’. So it’s funny to learn he didn’t even know the album had gone out to media with the threat attached.

ITM’s Tim Hardaker catches up with the – once broken – DJ, learning why he’s much more comfortable continuing to hone his craft as a producer of late.
