STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
A couple of months back a somewhat sensationalist press release was received here at ITM HQ announcing that Sydney band The Valentinos would be playing their “last ever shows” in May. Luckily, it was followed by some rudimentary fine print which revealed it was, in fact, to be their final shows under their current name… not their final ever performances.
The reason for the change in nome de plume? The threat of legal action from 70s soul singer Bobby Womack, whose backing band also went by the name The Valentinos… back in the day, of course. Now, a few months later, the band are back and ready to wreak havoc once more, with a brand new name, new single and launch tour. Australia, get ready for Lost Valentinos.
Lost Valentinos play launch dates around Australia over the coming weeks. Their single ‘17 Deaths’, produced by Ewan Pearson, is available through Mosquito’s Tweeter/Inertia:
Thu 26 Jul – Newcastle, Cambridge
Fri 27 Jul – Sydney, Gaelic Theatre
Sat 28 Jul – Melbourne, East Brunswick Club
Sat 4 Aug – Byron Bay, Splendour In The Grass
