A mainstay of the legendary Quannum Projects collective, alongside the likes of DJ Shadow, Chief Xcel and Gift Of The Gab of Blackalicious, and Latryx collaborator Lateef, Lyrics Born is one of the longest serving and most successful members of the crew. In 2003 he stepped out as a solo artist with his album ‘Later That Day’, receiving critical acclaim for his solo work. He followed up with ‘Same !@#$ Different Day’ in 2005, before releasing the live album ‘Overnite Encore’ late last year.
Touring the globe regularly – reported playing over 150 shows a year – Lyrics Born has proved himself as one of the most essential live hip-hop acts on the scene. With several successful tours of Australia already under his belt (his ‘Overnite Encore’ album was even recorded down under) he’s looking forward to returning in September and October for the national Parklife tour. ITM caught up for a chat to find out how his new album is shaping up, and what he has planned for his return tour next month.
