It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from Katalyst, although he definitely hasn’t been kicking back and relaxing. His critically acclaimed breakthrough album, ‘Manipulating Agent’ from 2002, set him up as one of the leading producers on the local scene, and it also gained him recognition far and wide in the hip-hop and beats community. It was nominated for an ARIA Award, and it also won him Best Producer and Best Album at the now defunct DMAs.
In the time since ‘Manipulating Agent’s release Katalyst has kept himself busy producing for artists like Ru C.L and Stephanie McKay, and he also put out the remixes album ‘Agent Manipulated’, and the mix CD ‘Dusted’. This month he made a welcome return with his brand new album ‘What’s Happening’, which is littered with top quality guests and Katalyst’s signature style of beats. Fans of quality music, rejoice! ITM’s Mo’Funk caught up for a chat to find out a little bit about it.
