STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
Melbourne based producer, DJ and live performer T-Rek is a man of many hats. As well as playing all manner of musical instruments, he also straddles a number of genres in his production work, all of which no doubt adds to his mystique as one of Australia’s finest underground electronic music identities. He recently released his third album, titled ‘Freakshow Disco Volume 2 & 3’, which – as the name would suggest – is a mash-bag of his finest work to date, all re-envisioned, re-strung or remixed to perfection.
Not strictly an album of his own music, it blurs the boundaries between ‘best of’, ‘mix CD’ and ‘artist album’, featuring some of T-Rek’s best remixing work for artists such as Snoop Dogg, Acid Jacks and Something for Kate, while also presenting his own music re-thought by local producers such as Chardy, Stick Figures and Jimi Polar. See what we meant about him wearing many hats?
T-Rek’s album ‘Freakshow Volume 2 & 3’ is out now through Rubber Records/EMI. You can catch him playing regularly at Revolver Upstairs in Melbourne over the coming months, as well as the following summer festivals:
Sat Dec 1 – Stereosonic, Melbourne
Tue Jan 1 – BBQ Breaks NYD, Brisbane
Tue Jan 1 – Sun Kissed, Gold Coast
