STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
2007 has been a year of rather remarkable triumphs for Sneaky Sound System. They’ve sold out shows around the country, their singles are played on radio every day, and the club mixes get caned on dancefloors every weekend. They were nominated for six ARIAs recently, the most ever for an independent artist, and they walked away from the ceremony triumphant with trophies for Breakthrough Artist Album and Best Dance Release. Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas even crashed their after party…
Their debut album – released towards the end of last year on their own label Whack – has gone double platinum, meaning it’s sold in excess of 140,000 copies. It’s an absolutely staggering feat, positively mind-blowing in fact. Who could have predicted that their music would strike such a chord with the Australian public? Embarking on their biggest ever headline tour this November, playing sold out arena shows around the country, the band are barely giving themselves a chance to bask in the glory of their success, as they’ve been hard at work in the studio the past few months, putting the finishing touches on their sophomore album.
ITM’s Tim Hardaker spoke with MC Double D recently, getting the full details on Connie’s secret-rock’n’roll past (check the pic below!), their experience at the ARIA Awards recently, and how the new album is shaping up.

I have arrived home from the Melbourne Sneaky Sound System Concert with my Husband and 2 friends feeling completely let down . We arrived at Festival Hall at 7:30....waited unit 10:15pm for the punks to grace the stage...this was not before we had to endure 2 hours of the shitest support acts I have ever seen and endless sound checks by the slowest roadies. What a disappointment for those who wish to continue to support local Australian acts, and are discouraged to do so when they are confronted with such arrogance. Just cos' you won 2 Arias doesn't mean you can forget those who got you there! Thanks for nothing!

No offence to Connie, but one of the best nights out I ever had was seeing the guys play live in a local club in Canberra a few years ago (05) before she was part of the group. Awesome crowd involvement, and one of them snapped an LP over his head!!
