STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW

This year has been something of a rather remarkable milestone for Mo and Ben, better known under their dancefloor nom de plume The Glimmers, as 2007 marks their 20th anniversary DJing together. It’s an impressive achievement, especially considering many of today’s clubbers would have been getting their nappies changed around the time they started out playing the club circuit in Ghent, Belgium.

It’s been a long and winding road for The Glimmers to reach their current position, but it’s a ride they’ve enjoyed. They’ve got a long established reputation for killer mix CDs, having put together compilations for labels like DJ-Kicks, Fabric, Culture Club and Eskimo, and are also reputable remix artists, giving The Glimmers treatment to music from the Killers, Bloc Party, Snow Patrol and Calvin Harris.

Originally known as the Glimmer Twins, when Mo and Ben started making inroads in the production game they were advised to change their title, as they’d taken the moniker from a nickname given to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones (which they’d, obviously, been sure to trademark!) Speaking with ITM ahead of their second Australian tour, Mo gives the lowdown on what’s been keeping them busy of late.

‘Eskimo Vol 5’ is out now through Eskimo/Stomp. Be sure to catch The Glimmers when they tour Australia over the coming weeks:

Nov 23 – Tonight Only Showcase, Perth
Nov 24 – Harbourlife, Sydney
Nov 24 – Killer, Melbourne
Nov 25 – Round & Round, Brisbane
