STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
Based in Recklinghausen in Germany’s north-west, Moguai (aka Andre Tegeler) might seem like a world away from the Australian dance scene, but he’s maintained close ties with local club brand Kink ever since he first played for them in 2005. Invited to mix their debut CD in early 2006 alongside resident Ben Morris, he also undertook a national tour to launch the album at the time of its release, and now after an absence of more than 18 months he’s finally set to return down under in December.
Producing since the early 90s, Tegeler has stayed at the forefront of the electronic music movement by keeping his sound fresh and on the cutting edge. Finding favour in the breaks and electro house scene earlier this decade with seminal tracks like ‘U Know Y’, ‘The Rock’ and ‘Get On’, his more recent productions have seen him skirting a decidedly more underground sound, with elements of deeper electro, tech and minimal shining through. ITM’s Tim Hardaker recently spoke with Andre ahead of his long awaited return to Australia.
Moguai tours Australia this summer:
Dec 31 – Cargo, Sydney
Jan 1 – Room 680, Melbourne
Jan 5 – Kink at Mass, Brisbane
