STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
Nicolas Scaravilli only began producing as Kid Crème in 2001, but in the space of a few years his name became ubiquitous. With main-room remixes of Shakedown’s At Night and Raw Silk’s Do It To The Music (which became Hypnotised), the young producer found the recognition he’d been toiling towards since the early 90s.
Kid Crème’s most enduring legacy, though, has been alongside DJ partner Vito ‘Junior Jack’ Lucente. Through the early 2000s, the pair was in giddy demand as club headliners, earning an iconic residency at Ministry Of Sound London and Defected in Ibiza. Here in Australia, though, the duo has earned a reputation as serial cancellers, pulling out at the last minute on a couple of tours.
The boom years have quieted down a little for the Kid, with the advent of electro-house and the loosening of Defected’s grip on the mainstream. Regardless, he has big plans for 2008 – including an artist album. Here Kid Crème speaks to ITM’s Jack Tregoning about his long-standing partnership with Junior Jack, the reasons they kept cancelling on us, and why Defected draws a sexier crowd than other Ibiza clubs!
