STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW

If you don’t know who the Plump DJs are, you might as well give up now. Where’ve you been hiding? To repeat a terminally overused phrase, they’re the ‘phattest duo in breakbeat’, and having triumphantly toured Australia too many times to list, they’re heading back for another NYE/NYD session.

Veterans of the summer festival circuit in Australia, throughout their career the duo have broken quite a few notable barriers, including their ‘A Plump Night Out’ album being the highest selling breaks CD ever, their FabricLive mix CD the highest selling in the Fabric series, and their seminal Mixmag cover mount CD leading to magazine’s highest ever selling issue. It’s official; the world can’t get enough of all things Plump!

One of the keys to the duo’s success is no doubt their ability to take the breakbeat sound out of the ‘pseudo laddish’ territory and into the mainstream dance consciousness. Breakbeat is often a genre that males tend to gravitate towards, but the Plumps have proved that the ladies can be just as mad about the syncopated way of life.

They’ve spent a good part of 2007 working on their eagerly anticipated new album, and as Lee recently explained to ITM, they’ll be bringing down some of their freshest material to roadtest on Australian crowds this summer.

The Plump DJs continue their tour of Australia throughout December and January:

Dec 26 – Breakfest, Perth
Dec 31 – Family, Brisbane
Jan 1 – Hot BBQ, Melbourne
Jan 5 – Festival First Night, Sydney
Jan 11 – Prince Bandroom, Melbourne
Jan 12 – ANU Refectory, Canberra
