STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
Having had a bit of a break from DJing in 2007 to focus his time on his recent album, ‘Tough Guys Don’t Dance’, since its release in October of last year UK drum & bass stalwart High Contrast has found himself getting back into the swing of things on the touring front.
‘Tough Guys Don’t Dance’ is his 3rd album and follows on from classic LPs like ‘High Society’ and his seminal debut ‘True Colours’; the latter regarded by many as one of the genres most notable releases. Having mastered the art of producing catchy as hell tunes, many would argue that the key to High Contrast’s enduring popularity comes in his ability to take the drum & bass genre beyond the dancfloor and into home listening, with his full length albums just as successful as his club tracks.
Ahead of his forthcoming return to Australia where he’s set to tour as part of the Good Vibrations festival with MC Wrec, High Contrast spoke with ITM recently and gave his thoughts on ‘the perverse nature of humans’ and their need to classify music into genres.
Don’t miss High Contrast when he tours Australia, with MC Wrec in tow, throughout February:
Feb 8 – Break Inn, Sydney
Feb 9 – Good Vibrations Festival, Melbourne
Feb 10 – Good Vibrations Festival, Brisbane
Feb 15 – Channel Function Complex, Adelaide
Feb 16 – Good Vibrations Festival, Sydney
Feb 17 – Good Vibrations Festival, Perth
