STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW

The Beat Vandals name may be a relatively new one to many Australian punters, but that’s all about to change with an impending tour as part of the Good Vibrations festival in February, 2008. Headed up by Tim Utah – one half of legendary rave act the Utah Saints – the Beat Vandals sees him collaborating with mystery producers in the studio, creating a series bootlegs and mash-ups that have set the underground breakbeat scene alight.

As well as mastering the art of bootlegging, Tim has kept himself busy running the Sugarbeat club in the UK, playing alongside names as diverse as DJ Cash Money, DJ Yoda, 2ManyDJs, Mr Thing, the Stanton Warriors and High Contrast. And, with the Utah Saints about to see their music introduced to an entire new generation of clubbers thanks to a cheeky Van She Tech remix of their 1992 hit ‘Something Good’, Tim is understandably excited about what the future holds.

The Beat Vandals tour Australia as part of Good Vibrations this February:

Feb 9 – Melbourne
Feb 10 – Brisbane
Feb 16 – Sydney
Feb 17 – Perth

‘Something Good 08’, with remixes by Van She Tech, High Contrast, Ian Carey and more, is released on Ministry Of Sound in March. Click below to see the YouTube clip of the band playing the original version on Top Of The Pops way back in 1992:
